Local videographer Lester Alfonso, a production team of talented volunteers organized by
Bancroft Times reporter Barry Hendry and hundreds of artists in the Bancroft & area community made the magic happen! Project Partners Community Futures, The Town of Bancroft, Bancroft & District Chamber of Commerce and The Algonquin Arts Council funded the making of Bancroft's winning 5 minute video submission.

Why did we win? The judges received over 150 entries from across the Province and chose Bancroft as the first-place winner because of our community’s “organic explosion of creativity” and our “creative pulse and vibe”. Bancroft attracts and supports the arts year-round. We’re a town where artists live and interact, support each other and feel inspired; where creativity is a community event.

“The goal of these contests is to celebrate our beautiful province and get people talking and learning about Ontario's rich history, geography and culture. The documentary profiles we produce on the winning communities allow us to showcase and applaud some of the most worthwhile projects and ground level leadership happening in the province today," says TVO Executive Producer Doug Grant.

The “Talented Town Contest” is Studio 2’s fifth Ontario-focused competition. Previous contests have been titled “Prettiest Town Contest” in 2000, Most Historic Town Contest” in 2001, Best Main Street Contest” in 2002 and “Greenest Town Contest” in 2003. Winning is a fabulous honour for the community of Bancroft & area, since there will never be another “Most Talented Town” contest run by TVO – the new title is ours forever.

The Town of Bancroft’s Economic Development Committee has set up a “Most Talented Town” sub-committee. That group is organizing Talented Town marketing strategies such as the Talented Town t-shirts and buttons that are now available for sale at The Village Playhouse, The Bancroft & District Chamber of Commerce, The Art Gallery of Bancroft, The Bancroft Public Library and The Town of Bancroft Municipal Offices. Adult and youth t-shirts are $15.00 and buttons are $2.00. Proceeds of these sales will be cycled back into promoting our “Most Talented” arts community. Bancroft & area businesses and associations are welcome to incorporate the “Talented Town” branding into existing logos, promotional material and signage. A new Most Talented Town in Ontario logo is being designed collaboratively by local graphic designers and an electronic version will be available soon to add to your website.

In order to display our “talent” to visitors, The Bancroft & District Chamber of Commerce is generously offering the use of the bulletin board on the outside of the Chamber for anyone who would like to make people aware of their “creativity”. The Chamber will be accepting business cards that they’ll post on this board under the title “Where to Find our Talent!!”

We Would Like to Thank:
The North Hastings Quilt Club for the use of their beautiful quilts as our back drop on the stage.
