"Murray Bros. Lumber Ltd. is always looking to the future and are we are excited about utilizing new technology to allow us to build our export sales" Ted Murray, Vice President
Murray Bros. Lumber Company Ltd. determined that some inefficiencies were occurring in the processing of export orders. The process required regrading and manually preparing container tallies and re-entering each piece of lumber manually (length, width and species) into the inventory system in a different location on the job site. This process is very time consuming as each piece of lumber is entered into the system twice and lends itself to human error.
With this in mind, the business determined that improvements could be achieved through the adoption of technology.
Murray Bros. Lumber Ltd. will be developing an export management system within the export building where the shipping container orders are being put together. The new software system will integrate data into their existing inventory program through the cloud and hardware will include touchscreen and scan technology.
The business anticipates a reduction in the costs of preparing export orders and anticipates creating 2 new jobs and the opportunity to grow its export sales.
